Buckeye Regional Best of Show Champion

Posted by Becky in Untagged

I am glad I didn't have to judge this show. I have been in the llama industry for over 20 years and I appreciate both of these champions. I would love to have either one of these llamas on my farm. But they aren't so I will just have to live vicariously by doing their portraits.

Best of Show Great Lakes Winner

This is a fabulous llama with beautiful suri fiber. Suri fiber drapes on the llama. The structure of the fiber locks is different than the traditional llama fiber. I hope you enjoy the progression of this portrait.

Best of Show Winners

Posted by Becky in Untagged

I was hired to be the artist of the Buckeye and Great Lakes Llama Championship Show. I designed the logo and I am currently working on pastels that were awarded to the two best of show winners. In llama world, fiber has become a very important aspect of the llama show ring and breeding programs. Both of the portraits I am about to post show two different but equally incredible fiber. Both of these llamas still have more detailing to add but you get a good idea of where I am going with them. I hope you enjoy them.

Black and white

I don't usually do black and white, but I do like how this turned out. The client wanted it to stay black and white like the original photo so I stayed with white, grey and back pastels.

Hot Chips and Silver Peru

Posted by Becky in Untagged

This was an interesting combination. I did another version of it with just a head shot of both animals but it didn't work out. I think the fact that the contrast of the low neck of the quarter horse and the erect neck of the llama thru the portrait out of balance. I changed them to full subjects and it seemed to help with balance issue. This is one of those portraits that just doesn't seem to photograph well. I would say all portraits look better in person, but this really seems to be particularly true with this one. It was so much fun working on this portrait.

Beach scene

In the cold bleak days of Ohio in the winter, I find this very refreshing and I wish I was there right now.

My first love was horses as it usually it is with most little girls... With that love, I spent a lot of my time drawing them... I always enjoy it when I get to get back to my roots and work on a beautiful horse

My crazy but exciting time of the year

It is so much fun to get to do a portrait with personality. By looking at this dog, you feel he was a loving dog.
