Posting the pictures is a great way for me to see things I don't see when I am looking at the portrait. I notice things I want to change on the bottom jowl and lip that I didn't see when I was looking at the portrait.  I want to go back and add a little to the bottom left jowl and straighten out the bottom of the lip just a tad. I like the background color because I think it helps accentuate the eyes .

In this portrait, I deleted all background and I am going to see how I like it with a white background. The photo shows only one eye since the other eye is totally shaded out. I added color and will see what the owner likes and go from there. I have added more detail than I usually do in my early stages of blocking in color. This is VERY early in the portrait but this gives me a starting point with my client to see where we want to go with it before I go too far with the portrait and get to a point where I can't make changes.

This is what I am working on right now. I am really happy with the eyes. I think it would have been easier and faster if I had done it as an oil instead of pastel. Each tiny hair takes a lot of time, but I will be happy with it in the end. Planning on making prints and note cards of this one.
